Cary Horowitz is a New York City based freelance photographer specializing in interior and architectural pictures, primarily for the real estate industry.
Born and raised in Manhattan, Cary began documenting historic older buildings near New Paltz, New York while in college. Most important were the mountain house hotels at Mohonk and Minnewaska. He was also one of the only photographers permitted by the National Park Service to photograph Ellis Island in 1975 & 1976. At that time the island was completely abandoned prior to any restoration work and opening to the public.
After college he apprenticed in his father’s diamond polishing factory, the start of a 30-year career in the diamond industry including 10 years at Harry Winston.
During almost 20 years as a professional photographer, Cary has photographed more than 5,000 properties ranging from studios and small apartments to some of the most expensive co-ops, condos and townhouses on the New York City market. In addition to real estate photography, he also photographed New York Fashion Week for Reuters for several years.
His pictures have been published in major publications worldwide including Architectural Digest, The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, Christies Great Estates Magazine, Paris Match, New York Magazine, USA Today, Time Magazine, The NY Post and NY Daily News among others.
